The Butcher’s Tap?

Where is it? 15 Spittal Street, Marlow, Bucks

What is it? A traditional Butcher’s Shop that is also a sports’ pub, serving local beer & bar snacks.

What is it like? There is no getting away from that this is a real Butcher’s!  Large meat counter by day, and somewhere to put your pint by night, Damien Hirst-like cuts of meat encased in glass units around the pub, even the toilet roll holder has a butcher’s twist. Check them out! There are Tellies showing world sport, but they are not intrusive, and they are a harmonious addition to the pub’s banter.

Any downside?  There is a slight whiff of butcher’s blood on your way to the toilets upstairs, and it is relatively small, so it does get crowded.

Upside? Great atmosphere and perfect for buying your meat, or a couple of drinks and a bite during the day or after work.

Conclusion: I’m sure there will be tweaks, but what a great idea. Fishmonger’s Tap Next?

Score: 8/10
