I’ve tasted Angelic Double Chocolate Cookies… should you put a pack in the trolley or leave them on the shelf?

Angelic Double Chocolate Cookies blurb reads: Like all things angelic, our Double Chocolate Cookies are sweet little things! Made with reduced fat, they’re light yet so heavenly tasty making the perfect snack. Baked with rich cocoa and dairy-free chocolate chips, one bite from these flavoursome cookies will be sure to satisfy that chocolate craving… guilt free!

OK: Angelic cookies are gluten- and dairy-free, with a bonus being that they are reduced fat as well. In a heavily competitive gluten-free cookie market, these stand out by being soy-free as well. Available in four flavours.

The tasting note: These cookies have a great flavour and a nice aftertaste. Although more like a biscuit than a cookie they are easier to bite into than other gluten-free biscuits. The chocolate flavour is much richer than comparable chocolate biscuits on the market. They are very moreish.

The full ingredient list: Gluten free flour (rice, potato, tapioca, maize, buckwheat), sugar, golden syrup, margarine (vegetable oils, emulsifier [mono and diglycerides of vegetable fatty acids], colour [natural carotene]), chocolate pieces (6%) (cocoa mass, sugar, cocoa butter, emulsifier: sunflower lecithin), egg, cocoa powder (3%), raising agents (mono calcium phosphate, sodium bicarbonate), emulsifier (sunflower lecithin), stabiliser (xanthan gum), natural flavouring

Sunflower lecithin? The vast majority of products use soya lecithin as an emulsifier in chocolate – using sunflower lecithin instead makes this product free from soy, another pesky allergen.

Can you eat it? Contains egg. Made without nuts but cannot guarantee nut free. Gluten, dairy and soy free.

Should you put it in the trolley? A good chocolatey flavour, texture and aftertaste, with 30% less fat than other gluten-free cookies it’s hard to say no to these!
