I’ve tasted Madam De Maintenon Rosé Champagne … should you put a bottle in the trolley or leave it on the shelf?

Madame De Maintenon Rosé Champagne blurb reads: ‘Light and elegant in Madame De Maintenon Rosé Champagne is delightfully fresh with crisp red fruit flavours and hints of raspberries. The long and lingering finish derives from its unique blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier created by our Cellar Master in Reims, the heart of Champagne. Perfect to drink on any occasion’ Available from The Co-operative Food.

OK – Rosé Champagne? The colour can vary from off white to almost red. The deeper the colour, the more fruit driven the champagne will be.  Therefore, if you are a fan of champagne’s bottle ageing nuances of brioche, biscuits, dried fruits and yeasty notes then rosé champagne is not for you. On the other hand thou, if you are looking for an-easy-drinking champagne that has that ‘please drink me’ appeal then pink is the one to pick from the shelf.

The tasting note:  This easy-drinking onion skinned coloured champagne that  delivers dry red fruit notes from sip to swallow. If the price fits – put a bottle in the trolley.

Can you drink it? Not if you are avoiding alcohol, yeast and sulphites

Should you put it in the trolley? Absolutely, provided the price fits
