Tasted: Mirabilia Organic Olive Leaf Tea
By Vegan Caroline
Fresh and light tasting with hints of citrus on the palate. Great alternative to green tea.

The Product: Hailing from Italy, olive leaf tea has actually been around for centuries. The most tender leaves from organic olives are picked and slowly dried to produce leaves that you simply add boiled water to. The tea boasts many claims such as being extremely high in antioxidants, antibiotic, anti-viral and anti-fungal qualities, an aid to weight loss and as a way of lowering blood pressure and cholesterol. It’s said to boost the immune system and all whilst remaining caffeine and tannin free.

The Verdict: The aroma on opening the packet was lovely, like warm fruit cake. The leaves need to be steeped longer than tea leaves at around 6 minutes which reward you with a refreshing, light, citrusy tasting brew. Mirabilia recommend serving the tea hot, tepid, cold or iced and I was surprised to find that I enjoyed it cold on a hot day. You can also refresh the leaves and get two or even three brews out of each portion of leaves. A great drink for any time of the day.

The full ingredient list: Dried olive leaves produced to organic standards.
