Tasted: Laschinger Smoked Salmon

The middle classes and now University students have found Lidl, my local one was packed with our Uni’s latest intake. Yes… prudently stocking up with this week’s bargains! So be forewarned savvy-shoppers, you’ll now have to get to Lidl’s shelves before the students, if want their best offers. I had to be very very quick to grab the last pack of their Laschinger smoked salmon.

The product:
It’s labelled as Scottish smoked salmon, but the back label reads that it has been farmed in Scotland, but produced in Poland. Not sure if it means packed… or that it is Beechwood smoked, cured and packaged in Poland. Packaging mile? Laschinger & Lidl are both German companies that are ‘spitting distance’ from Poland, but taking a product from Scotland to Poland then back to Scotland – is a wee bit bonkers.

The verdict:
Love smoked salmon? I do. Beechwood smoked to perfection and at a price that even Uni students can afford! Aldi’s version is just as cheap and as good.
