Morrisons Special Selection Black Sheep Brewery Golden Ale. If you want a bland beer that’s short on character, this watery ale with its over-soured bitterness… will fit the bill.

The product
Black Sheep Brewery is a pretty big deal, supplying many hundreds of pubs in its North Yorkshire home and beyond. Now it’s supplying a ‘Specially Selected’ Morrisons branded range, including this Golden Ale, a ‘smooth and citrussy buxom blonde’.

The verdict:
If you’re keen to find out how Black Sheep earned its respected reputation, this watery ale’s giving away no clues. It hits your palate with a simple lemony sourness, before a bitterness hits that’s simpler still. Both flavours outstay their welcome, the thin, one-note bitters gripping your tongue long after you’ve tired of them.
