We Brits shake off that famous British reserve when we are celebrating a royal wedding and likewise this weekend the ‘bowler hats’ will come off for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee street parties.
To help the Queen’s Jubilee parties go with swing the supermarkets are reducing the price of their Champagne and Cava by up to 50%. Fabulous if you are celebrating it with bubbles. For example, Etienne Dumont Brut NV Champagne is down from £31.99 to £15.99 at Sainsbury’s. The Co-operative’s Aubert et Fils Champagne is down from £29.99 to 12.99 and its Marques de Sierra Negra Cava is reduce to £5.99 from £11.99. Pol Aime Champagne is down to £11.99 at Tesco.
If beer is your tipple, and you think that the big beer brands are flavourless and are made by cautious chemists rather than creative chefs? You simply want the best of British in hops for your street party! Then check out the beer shelves at The Co-operative.
The Co-operative has recently launched two must buy limited-edition Truly Irresistible British Beers, “Jubilation and Salutation”, Their beer buyer has refrained from asking the big breweries to crank up the flavour a few notches. Instead the buyer has teamed up with Don Burgess’ boutique Freeminer Brewery in Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. Don produces the best of British in hops.
The Jubilation is produced from malt from Warminster and Bramling Cross hops grown by Thomas Hawkins in Worcester. Its Salutation adds the Goldings and Fuggles hops. Just perfect for celebrating a very British Day!
