I’ve tasted Fabulous Bakin’ Boys Double Choccy Muffins… should you put a pack in the trolley or leave them on the shelf?
Fabulous Bakin’ Boys Double Choccy Muffins blurb reads: A chocolate flavoured muffin with chocolate chips. Baked in a nut-free zone. Suitable for vegetarians. Only natural colours and flavours.
OK: Chocolate muffins with chocolate chips on top! And nut-allergic people can eat them! What’s not to like?
The tasting note: They are a little dry so best with a glass of milk. Not too many chocolate chips and the chocolate taste is not as rich as I would like. They are also a rather high calorie treat at 174 calories per muffin. That said, they are quite more-ish and it is easy to eat one after another. A useful addition to the ‘safe treats’ armoury of any nut-allergic family.
The full ingredient list: Wheat flour, sugar, water, vegetable oil, milk chocolate chips (7.7%)(sugar, cocoa butter, dried whole milk, cocoa mass, emulsifier (soya lethicin)), humectant (vegetable glycerol), whole egg powder, fat reduced cocoa powder (2%), raising agents (disodium diphosphate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium aluminium phosphate, potassium hydrogen carbonate), whey powder (from milk), salt, preservative (potassium sorbate), wheat gluten, modified waxy maize starch, dextrose, wheat protein, milk protein, colour (mixed carotenes), enzymes, citric acid, thickener (xanthan gum).
Can you eat it? Contains Wheat Gluten, Milk, Egg, Soya & Lactose.
Should you put it in the trolley? Chocolate taste could be richer, but a good treat for nut-allergic people. Best with a glass of milk!
