OK: Haggis – pride of Scotland, and a delicacy so filled with offal that some meat eaters can’t face the thought of it. Why on Earth, then, would you make a veggie version?
Because it tastes great: that’s why. Those famous haggis spices work brilliantly in this well-seasoned mix. Oats, lentils, veg, beans and seeds each lend their own lovely texture – the seeds especially are a master stroke. And it’s not solely a veggie hit: I know two committed meat eaters who have tried this (one of them Scottish) and they both like it.
The full ingredient list: Oats, Lentils, Vegetable Margarine (Non Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Water, Salt, Emulsifier E471, Flavouring, Carrots, Swede, Kidney Beans, Mushrooms, Onions, Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Salt, Pepper, Spices.
Can you eat it? It’s veggie, it’s vegan – but it’s not gluten-free.
