Pitching to the press as ‘the world’s best ever milkshakes’ is asking for trouble. There are a lot of milkshakes in the world, and the best are always going to be the ones made with fresh ingredients. But that’s the claim made by Mr Sherrick’s shakes, a range of five luxury milkshakes launched in October by a former M&S buyer. Do they live up to it?
Nice? Yes. World’s best? Nope. Let’s take Banoffee: it’s got a good consistency – not too thick – and it tastes like high quality ingredients have gone into it, but there’s an artificial note to the banana flavour which takes the sheen off its luxury trappings. And the little toffee pieces suspended in the milkshake will be divisive. They add flavour and they’re interesting, but not everybody will be happy with chunks in a drink, however quickly they dissolve. Indeed, those chunky bits appear in the whole range – meringue in the Strawberry Pavlova flavour, chocolate pieces in the Pot Au Choc – and they’re certainly a unique selling point. Whether people will be sold on them, however, will come down to personal taste.

Mr Sherrick’s Shakes Softly Banoffee
Little toffee pieces pop on your tongue when you drink this, and frankly that takes some getting used to. Otherwise, it’s a nice consistency (not too thick) and it’s very sweet. More of a dessert than a shake. Tasted by Veggie Tom.
