Hoppy Gilmore
A perfectly serviceable India Pale Ale, but it lacks the lip-smacking, must-have-one-more allure of the best.
The product
You’ve tried an IPA, but this is a VIPA – a Spanish take on the hop-heavy and highly popular style. The V stands for Valencia, where microbrewery Tyris is based.
The verdict:
A good beer? Yes. A memorable one? Probably not. It’s got hints of juicy, sour fruit and a biter, resinous finish but it’s also slightly thin, both in texture and in its range of flavours. A perfectly serviceable India Pale Ale, but it lacks the lip-smacking, must-have-one-more allure of the best.
