Artisan quality, versatile natural non dairy yoghurt. Great for using in both sweet and savoury dishes.
A few years ago on holiday in Canada I came across delicious coconut yoghurt and icecream. I was really sad to leave them behind and come home where the only non dairy equivalents of these food stuffs at the time were soya based. Now thanks to people like nutritionist Bethany Eaton the founder of small family run company, Coyo, these kind of products are finally available in the UK.
The first thing to notice is that coconut yoghurt is much more pricey than it’s soy equivalent. In terms of texture and taste it is a completely different product though. The yoghurt is much thicker and more akin to clotted cream in texture. I found it really rich, a little sour and that a little went a long way. I used this tub over a couple of days as a topping on fruit and museli with agave syrup and also stirred in several portions of soup. The Coyo yoghurt range comes in several sweet flavours alongside the natural version. The beauty of the natural flavour is that you can add it to savoury dishes like curries but also enjoy it sweetened with a vegan honey substitute.
