Tasted: Veggie Gewürztraminer from Alsace

By Martin Isark
Such is the quality of this Gewurztraminer from Alsace... it makes me happy just thinking about it!

The product:
This Alsatian Gewürztraminer wine is part of the Waitrose Vegetarian Foodie Case. Interestingly, there is no indication on the bottle that it’s suitable for vegetarians & vegans, you have to get the Can I Eat It? App to know that.

Gewürztraminer? A white grape that makes a Gewürztraminer wine, and when grown in the Alsace region of France, it typically, delivers heady floral, citrus and lychee notes.  The pronounced palate flavours, of this Gewürztraminer, give the impression that it’s off-dry, but it’s dry. The Alsace region does produce some top-notch sweet wines from this grape – but it’s rare to find them on the shelves in the UK.

The verdict:
Such is the quality of this Gewurztraminer from Alsace… it makes me happy just thinking about it!
