An innovative twist on the traditional veggie haggis with exotic flavours and lovely warming spices.
The Can I Eat It? reviewers have long been fans of Macsween’s Vegetarian haggis. This versatile product works well in a traditional Scottish meal with neeps and tatties, as part of a roast dinner or even sliced up on a sandwich. I’ve served this to non veggies who’ve loved it too. MacSween’s have just launched a new version with their Moroccan Spiced Vegetarian Haggis but is this simply a novelty or a serious contender?
I have to admit that I was a bit dubious but this really works and holds its own against the original version. It stills tastes like haggis but with the addition of lovely warming spices and apricots, prunes, ginger and lime. The texture is good with nice nutty flavours coming through. MacSween have lots of additional ideas for serving such as crumbing into a salad and using as an empanada filling, which sound well worth a try.
