Tasted: Marigold Swiss Vegetable Bouillon Powder
By Veggie Tom
The best vegetable stock powder on the market – this is the secret to delicious homemade soups..
Ever made your own vegetable stock? If you have, I’m impressed – as far as I’m concerned it takes far more time than it’s worth, takes up too much fridge or freezer space and eats up ingredients you could use elsewhere. Which presents a problem, because vegetable stock cubes are rubbish. Right?
Beef has Oxo. Chicken has Knorr. But it used to be the case that if you wanted vegetable stock off the shelf, everything tasted bland and artificial. Marigold is the opposite – a seriously punchy, deeply flavoured stock stock powder recommended by Nigella, Delia and plenty of others. Just be aware that it’s pretty salty, so it’s wise to use a bit less than the pack advises.
