Great flavours of nutty millet and peppery lentils. Makes an excellent soup base.
Clearspring have come up with an interesting concept with their new Quick Cook range. They’ve pre-cooked mixes of ingredients with steam and hot air that would normally take three or four times as long to cook. As a result the products are ready in just 10 minutes. All products are suitable for vegans and are organic too.
Millet is not a grain that I’m very familiar with but I loved it’s nutty flavours. The addition of split peas and lentils to this mix lend protein and it would work well alongside salads or stews. My favourite way to use this though was as a soup base alongside onion and butternut squash which made a gorgeous, comforting soup. I’m sometimes put off cooking wholefood grains by the much longer cooking times so I’m delighted to discover these products which I can use when short of time but without compromising health benefits.
