Tasted: It’s Nut Free Chewy Tropical Fruit Oaty Breakfast Cereal
By Nut-allergy Alexis
A good breakfast for the health conscious – others in the range will appeal more to children.
The Product If your mantra is to eat more healthily, then finding nut-free food may not be top of your priority list as you obsess with calorie counting. However, it’s true that breakfast is the most important meal of the day if you want to stop yourself grazing constantly.
Most breakfast cereals are relatively safe as nuts are uncommon ingredients but muesli can be difficult as it often includes nuts for protein and so the cross-contamination risk is higher. It’s Nut Free offer a few different cereals – Oat and Raisin, Tropical Fruit, and Fudge and Choc Chip.
The Verdict Tasty and filling, the Tropical Fruit cereal makes a good breakfast. The dried pineapple and apricot give enough sweetness to avoid the blandness trap that museli can fall into. The Oat and Raisin is sweeter, and the Fudge and Choc Chip is so sweet that it will appeal mostly to children. Naturally there is a price premium compared to food which is not guaranteed nut free.
