The Product: Made from wheat flour and flavoured with yeast extract and smoked salt, Bacon Flavour Crumbles are designed to mimic the flavours of bacon whilst at the same time they remain suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets.
The Verdict: These are more of a seasoning than a main ingredient so they’re not going to replace pieces of bacon however these tiny crunchy bacon flavour bits can be a nice accompaniment to your meal. I liked them best sprinkled over creamy pasta dishes and risotto and ended up sneaking them into other places such as toasted vegan cheese and tomato sandwiches. If you’ve given up or are cutting back on meat and are missing these kind of smoky flavours then Bacon Crumbles are well worth a try.
